This is Coccinia grandis, also known as ivy gourd, scarlet gourd, and Kowai. This perennial vine grows up to 10 feet long and is in flower during early Summer. Stem tops and young leaves can be cooked and eaten as vegetables or used in soups. Young green tender fruits are used raw in salads, or cooked into curries. You can also let the fruit turn ripe and scarlet and eat the sweet fleshy fruit. USDA Hardiness Zones 8 to 11.
