This is Coffea arabica Caturra, also known as a Dwarf Coffee. This plant is perfect for growing your own coffee indoors. Coffea arabica Caturra does not mind being in either shade or full sun and is much shorter than the normal coffee plant, making it a great selection as a house plant. I roast my own beans and almost all of the coffee I roast is arabica. I know that some people think robusta is better, but I like medium and light roasted coffees and that means arabica almost every time for me. This plant produces more coffee beans and matures quicker than common coffee plants. This is because the branches are shorter and closer together which directs more of the plants energy into producing coffee beans and growing to maturity. This variety is also more resistant to disease than the older arabica varieties. The white blossoms are scented and nicely fragrant. This plant is a larval host plant for the Half-blind sphinx Moth. It is also a nectar source for the Red-bordered Pixie, and Klugs Clearwing butterflies. USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11.
