These seeds were collected from Ravenala madagascariensis, also known as Fan Plantain, Traveler Banana, Travellers Tree, and Travellers Palm. This tree likes to live in the full sun where it can get about 100 feet tall in Madagascar and probably 40 feet high maximum in the U.S. The white yellow, green, and chartreuse blossoms are on display year round and attract a wide variety of birds, bees, and butterflies. One reason that it may be called a travelers palm is because the fan grows somewhat on a west to east line and can give travelers an approximate compass. USDA Hardiness Zones 9b to 11.
