These Seeds were collected from Celosia argentea var. cristata, also known as Cockscomb. This annual likes to live in full sun and grows about 3 feet high. It is used as an ornamental plant because of its beautiful red, orange, yellow, white, and purple blossoms which are on display from the middle of the summer until the middle of the fall. It attracts a wide variety of birds, bees, and butterflies. The young shoots and leaves are cooked and eaten as a vegetable similar to spinach. The seed can be used to make an edible oil and the plant is also used to make soap. It works great when used as cut or dried flowers. This annual can be grown in all USDA Hardiness Zones.
