These seeds were collected from Ceiba speciosa, also known as Chorisia speciosa, and Floss Silk Tree. This tree likes to live in full sun where it can get up to 80 feet tall. It has pink blossoms that are on display in the middle of the fall. The cotton inside the seed pod can be used as a stuffing and the wood is used to make wood pulp which in turn is used to make paper. It is also a good wood to make a canoe out of. Oil can be extracted from the seeds and rope can be made from the bark. Most of the time the tree is just used as an ornamental for its breath taking beauty. USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 10.
