These seeds were collected from Bauhinia tomentosa, also known as St. Thomas Tree, Yellow Bauhinia, Yellow Bell Orchid Tree, and Yellow Butterfly Tree. These trees live to live in sun to partial shade where they grow to about 15 feet high. The bright yellow blossoms are out from the middle of the summer until early fall. The botanist Linnaeus name the genus Bauhinia after two swiss scientists by the names of Gaspard and Johann Bauhin. Bauhinia in general are larval host plants for the Gold-spotted Aguna, and Gilberts Flasher butterflies. USDA Hardiness Zones 10 to 11.
