These seeds were collected from Aristolochia grandiflora, also known as Pelican Flower. This is one of the worlds largest flowers. This tropical vine likes to live in sun and can grow to about 30 feet long. The scarlet red blossoms are heart shaped and on display from late spring until early fall. This plant attracts insects into the flower and then the flower changes the direction of its hairs so that the insect can not escape. All Aristolochia species, except for the Aristolochia gigantea, are larval host plants for the Pipevine Swallowtail, Polydamas Swallowtail, and Mylotes Cattleheart butterflies. USDA Hardiness Zones 11 to 12.
