This is Momordica charantia, also known as bitter melon, papailla, bittergourd, balsam apple, and balsam pear. Growing at a length of 12 feet long this vine loves to live in full sun. From the middle of Summer to early Fall this vine blossoms a wonderful gold color. The skin is tender and edible. The fruit is best eaten when its green or when it first starts to turn yellow.
