This is Callistephus chinensis, also known as Dwarf Milady and China Aster. This is an Annual butterfly flower which is also deer resistant and should be planted in the full sun. The interesting blooms start in the middle of the Summer and continue until early Fall. As an added bonus they are wonderfully fragrant. This is a nectar plant for the Pearl Crescent, Behrs Metalmark, Dainty Sulphur, Field Crescent, Little Yellow, Eastern Tailed-Blue, Sachem, Viceroy, Question Mark, American Snout, Painted Crescent, Northern Checkerspot, Plains Skipper, Common Buckeye, Cabbage White, Arctic Fritillary, Orange Sulphur, Western Branded Skipper, Common Branded Skipper, Common Checkered-Skipper, and Leonards Skipper butterflies.
