This is Ficus altissima, also known as council tree. The most interesting feature of this tree are its above ground aerial roots. The bark can be used to make cord and the trunk and branches can be used to make latex. This tree attracts a wide variety of bird, bees, and butterflies. It likes to live in anything from sun to full shade where it can grow up to 40 feet high. Ficus, in general, are larval host plants for the Fig sphinx moth, and the Antillean Daggerwing butterfly. USDA Hardiness Zones 9b to 11.
