This is Passiflora edulis cv Black night. This cultivar is known for its delicious fruit which has a slight spiciness to its flavor. This plant can actually be grown indoors and still produce the high quality fruit that is coveted by passion fruit lovers. This cultivar is compact and a vigerous grower with fragrant flowers. I cannot find these plants or seeds in the United States and I order them from Australia every year. The fruit on this one is beyond compare. This is a host plant for the Zebra Long Wing, Zebra Heliconian, Julia Heliconian, Isabellas Heliconian, Banded Orange Heliconian, Mexican Fritillary, Scarce Bamboo Page, Erato Heliconian, Variegated Fritillary, and Gulf Fritillary butterflies. It is also a larval host plant for the Plebeian sphinx Moth. USDA Hardiness Zones 9 to 11.
