These seeds were collected from Astragalus crassicarpus, also known as Ground Plum, buffalo plum, pomme de prairie, and Groundplum Milkvetch. Growing up to 2 feet high this plant likes to live in full sun where it sports colorful blossoms of white, tan, cream, purple, pink, and lavender. This is a larval host for the Afranius Duskywing, Melissa Blue, Meads Sulphur, Shasta Blue, Western Tailed-Blue , Acmon Blue, Queen Alexandras Sulphur, Southern Cloudywing, Silvery Blue, Reakirts Blue, Marine Blue, and Arrowhead Blue butterflies. It is also a food source for the Python Skipper, and Dotted Roadside-Skipper butterflies. The seedpod are picked before they are ripe and can be eaten raw or cooked. The cooked fruit tastes similar to green beans. USDA Hardiness Zones 3b to 8.
