This is Petroselinum crispum var. neapolitanum, also known as Flat Leaf Parsley, and Italian Parsley. We all know how much humans all over the world love parsley, well the butterflies and many other insects are also very fond of it. This herb likes to live in sun to partial shade. In its second year it will bloom from the middle of the Summer until early fall giving the garden a wonderful aroma of fresh parsley the whole time. You can harvest the parsley root in the second year and eat it as a vegetable, or harvest the leaves in the first year for the fresh parsley that we are used to using in the U. S. This is a larval host plant for the Old World Swallowtail, Black Swallowtail, Ozark Swallowtail, Anise Swallowtail, Indra Swallowtail butterflies. Parsley may be grown as a biennial in USDA Hardiness Zones 5 to 10b
